Londoners may have avoid some more orange barrels around the SoHo area.
The proposed building will be around 18 stories tall, and have enough units for two hundred and forty residents. Also included in the proposal are plans for an underground parking garage, an above ground lot, as well as commercial space on the main level. The building will also be located on a BRT line.
This plan has been received both positive and negative feedback from the community. Some people are looking forward to the face-lift it will give the area, as well as the prospect of mew people moving into the area. On the other hand, people are worried the building will cause too much traffic, and its too big. This new project will also impact the local businesses.
Peggy Letsos is the president of the Family Circle restaurant, located directly on the parking lot where the building will go. She says that the city would tear down the existing building.
She says she is sad to leave the place shes known for 20 years, but she is supportive, and hopeful for the new project.
“I think if they do it right, it will be good”
The city has not made an official decision on the building yet. They are planning more public hearings for the future. The next one is scheduled for October
