Fanshawe has continued to grow by adding a $66 million project for a new downtown campus. One attraction to this campus is the The Chef’s Table, which is a new restaurant that shows off the skills from the hospitality and culinary students. Currently the restaurant is only open to faculty of Fanshawe but will soon be opening to the general public. There are many restaurants in the downtown core that will be in competition, however The Chef’s Table hopes to work with them to create a community of dining.
“We actually just want to come in and be apart of the community, I’ve only been in London about a year and a half and I’m discovering this great food locations and restaurants in downtown London. We want to come in and just be a partner with them and want to be apart of the community. Just be another option for people to come in and enjoy the wonderful food scene that is downtown”
The Chef’s Table will be similar to Saffrons which was the fine dining restaurant that was student based on the main campus. Saffrons is considered to be a more academic focussed with lab learning. The new restaurant will give students a true real life scenario of a restaurant to the community.
The Grand opening of the downtown campus is Friday afternoon.
