Tucked away near Harris Park in down town London sits the Eldon House, A historical home rich in local knowledge. But in the month of October Eldon House recalls a part of its past that to some seems supernatural.
In 1841 the daughter of the Eldon House owner invited a soldier who she had been courting to a ball, The soldier was expected to arrive around 8.p.m, however he did not appear until 10:15.p.m looking distant and disheveled. The daughter followed the wandering soldier into the library where she lost sight of him and he seemingly vanished.
The next day the soldiers body was found in the Thames river, His pocket watch stopped at exactly 10:15, the exact time he was seen at the ball. Time often plays a key role in sightings of spiritual nature. Another incident in Eldon House that happened in the 1980s involved some interested officials from UWO. They held a seance in one of the rooms, at one point a wine glass that was on the Ouija board frantically maneuvered around the board before flying off the table and shattering in the fire place. The time of the incident was 10:15.
A local physic spoke about this connection between spiritual interactions and time saying that “the time of death often acts as a portal or window into our world that allows for a dead person to come through and interact with the living.”
How true these claims are depends on ones willingness to believe. Eldon House is hosting Ghost walks throughout the month of October for those who wish to dive into the mystery themselves.
