It’s that time of year again, the flu season. The flu season takes place from October to December and, when that time period comes around like right now you might want to start thinking of getting your flu shot. Most people tend to think the flu shot can get you sick but, that’s a myth. Bhavesh Patel is a Pharmacist and the owner of Synergy Remedy’s and he says he is always happy to see people come in to receive their flu shot but doesn’t like to hear something like this.
“A lot of people say I don’t want to get my flu shot because it will just get me sick but, that’s not true. The flu shot is there to help and to protect you not only from the flu but from pneumonia and many other viruses.”
You don’t have to wait for a certain age to get the flu vaccine either according to Jody Paget from the Middle-Sex London Health Unit you can get it before the age of 1.
” You can receive the influenza vaccine at a very early stage of your life, the vaccine is for anyone between the age of 6 months to the age of 65. You don’t have to stop receiving it after the age of 65 you can keep going it is recommended because, we do want people to stay healthy and we definitely don’t want them to have or give anyone the flu”
Since it is the flu season anyone without the vaccination can be at risk but, Bhavesh Patel named off people that can be more at risk of having the flu.
” Pregnant women are at risk during the flu season, elder’s can be at risk, and children in elementary and middle school’s can be at risk. That’s why it’s really important for them to get the flu shot and, why we really try to convince them and everyone else to get the vaccine.”
It is important for the human body to stay healthy, if you have the chance to get your flu shot do it. You never know you could be the one to catch the flu or to give it to someone else, and to have the flu at this time of year or when the holidays come around, it might not be ideal.
