With Halloween just behind us many people minds start to focus on the next holiday. Christmas decorations starting popping up in stores though even before the trick or treating began. This has left many veterans concerned that the holiday cheer might impact peoples willingness to remember.
“I think that most people are able to balance both.” Jen Douglas, a employee of Dollarama said. “I think that despite seeing the decorations most people still feel it is a bit too early.”
Douglas even noted that sales of the Christmas décor don’t really take off until the later half of November usually.
“I think that Christmas is a season, a season that those who have served in the Military have sacrificed for us to celebrate freely. For me I think the two days complement each other beautifully.” Douglas stated.
The question does go beyond mere décor though with the city holding their Santa Clause parade on November 10th, The night before Remembrance day. It would seem that it comes down to Londoners to balance their gratitude and Christmas spirit respectfully.
