During the Corporate Services Committee meeting, Mayor Matt Brown announced that the city gained $4.8 million in slot machine revenue from the Western Fair District gaming site.
Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation (OLG) representatives were in attendance to celebrate their contribution to the city.
Tyjondah Kerr, OLG’s senior manager of municipal and community relations, says OLG is proud to have been contributing to the city since the gaming site first opened in 1999.
“It’s always a good feeling to know that the revenue is going towards helping the community and making it a better place to be,” Kerr added.
Out of the $4.8 million, $1.25 million went to the reconstruction of Wonderland Road and $2.3 million to multiple road rehabilitation projects that included asphalt, curbs, and gutters across the city.
The other $1.2 million contribution went to accessibility projects and interior renovations with $1.2 million being invested in the North London Optimist Community Centre and Southcrest Pool.
