Leap Junction, Fanshawe’s entrepreneurship guidance service, made its contribution for global entrepreneurship week (GEW). Over 170 countries are participating in GEW this year. Typically, GEW is a week in November however, it is not consistent with what week it falls on. Leap Junction threw in its hat to host what is called “Leap Talk” for students and entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs from around London came to talk to students and set up shop in F building. This event was made to educate and to network other other entrepreneurs. They featured guest speakers included:
- Alayna Hryclik of Soft Flirt
- Nicole Snobelen of Evelynn
- Jennifer Olson of STMNT
- Jennifer A. Lofthouse of Lofthouse Living
- Rokhsana Purdy of Purdy Natural
They discussed the relevance of pop up retail in today’s marketplace, and also share their experiences with popping up. Students who were primarily participating were the Fashion Design Marketing and Merchandising Program.
Jennifer Olson, Co-founder of STMNT, had a pop-up booth to network with students and talk about her business. STMNT advertises themselves as Uber for clothes. This clothing rental service allows users to lend and borrow clothing through the app that is currently in development.
” Leap Junction has been helpful for us and many entrepreneurs,” Said Olson. “We’ve had conversations with them in the past. It’s just important for us to be apart of the community. It’s extremely helpful for us. It’s a big community.” She added.
STMNT will be officially launching in the new year.
