The London Lightning lost their exhibition game against the Windsor Express 111-103 at Budweiser Gardens. The Lightning ended the first half with a 10 point lead over the Express. Windsor then outscored London 60-42 in the second half which propelled the Express to victory.
lightning head Keith Vassell says that he anticipates every game to be scrappy ” We are going for that three peat and we now know that every game we play we are going to get the other teams best shot and we understand that” Vassell also goes on to say that there defense let them down in the second half and expects that to change when the season comes around.
The lightning were out rebounded for the entire game 54-44, Mo Bolden the Southern Mississippi alum posted a double double racking up 14 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort. Bolden added postgame that even though this was an exhibition game their team defense was not as sharp as they may like ” We didn’t play good defense as a collective unit in the second half and that needs to change”. He also said that he does not fell the pressure of trying to capture that three peat “I personally don’t feel of the pressure of trying to win again , if we can just control what we can control and work hard everyday we will be able to achieve our goal”.
The Lightning season opener starts on Sunday as they take on the St. John’s Edge at Budweiser Gardens, Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm.
