The London Fire Department was on the scene for three hours yesterday after the old McCormick Plant went up in flames.
“We still don’t know what the cause of the fire is, we are still investigating what the origin of the fire is, and how it started.” Said, Acting Deputy Fire Chief of the London Fire Department Jack Burt.
This is not the first time the Fire Department has had to deal with an abandoned building catching on fire, and this is beginning to become a concern for the Department.
” This is a concern for us but, that’s why on a monthly basis we will send Firefighters to every single abandoned building here in London to make sure everything looks good, and that no one is inside because, anything like a fire for example could occur and we don’t want anyone getting hurt.” Said, Burt.
Since this fire did take place yesterday, it will take some time to determine the causes of the fire. With fire investigations depending on the severity of the fire it could take a few weeks to come to a conclusion. The Department will look to cover every angle of this incident and have not ruled out arson.
