A twenty-seven year old man has been charged after a ten year old was was hit by a vehicle in St.Thomas.
The boy was sent to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The boy was on his scooter when a driver took a left hand turn and hit the boy. The boy was thrown in the air and landed on a paved road.
The driver was charged with “making a left hand turn not safely”.
Pedestrian safety is an on going concern across the province. Pedestrian injuries are one of the leading causes of injury-realted deaths in for children.
The province of Ontario has released that pedestrians being distracted is one of the causes that leads to accidents. This includes peorstrians being on a phone while walking across the street.
London alone has over eighty marked cross walks. The London Health Science Centre sees over fifty injuries involving pedestrian incidents a year. That number is continuing to rise and incidents continue to happen.
The city states that even though those cross walks are to alert the drivers specifically pedestrians need to paying just as much attention, if not more.
London Health Science Centre and the London Police have come together to make this initiative to keep pedestrians safe.
