The CP Holiday Train was on an express route to London Thursday evening. Richmond Street was filled with Londoners getting in the holiday spirit from grandparents, to moms and dads and little ones bundled up in snow suits and blankets.
Country music star JoJo Mason got London in the holiday spirit leading the crowd in Christmas carols for the evening.
The Food Bank was also aboard the train for it’s 20th year of collecting can goods for those in need this time of year.
Food Bank staff member Chris Arsenault says “not everyone is as fortunate as we think, and a lot of people struggle to put a meal on the table this time of year. To see that London is so generous and donating tons of can food is truly amazing.”
In 20 years the CP Holiday Train has raised over 20 million dollars in cash donations and more then four million pounds of canned goods for food banks across the country.
Arsenault also adds that there was so much food donations Thursday evening that it will last food banks until next holiday season.
“We never know how much people are going to bring because it is all donations, but people are truly amazing,” says Arsenault.
The CP Holiday Train is now making it’s way down the tracks for its next stop in Chatham.
