Annandale historical site is a museum in the town of Tillsonburg Ontario where The spirit is higher than a lot. But the museum is very origional and started in 1976 which was then moved in 1980 when the town rallied together and purchased the annandale historic site. The musuem is made up of 18,000 plus artifacts and is opened all year around. Around Christmas time they convert all the displays into christmas displays that represnt how the town feels. The reason this represents how the town feels is because the town literally builds the displays. What Patrica phelps does is find volunteers around town to dedicate 2 days of their time to set up the display. Every display is done by a diffrent volunteer and the same volunteer cannot do the same display 2 years in a row so it is diffrent every year. This year they ran a really cool exhibit called batteries not included. This display is a bunch of older toys that have been collected from around the town and it displays the time frame toys have taken. And how they have evolved over the years. It has things like bop it and hungry hungry hippo along with plenty of toys made of wood. Patrica says “ i like christmas display it’s a chance to let the community give back” all of annandales Christmas lights are from over the years. They have gotten all there wreaths, lights and garments from either volunteers or picked up peice by peice over the year. Patrica says that the christmas spirit is far from dying in this town “ i think its just the gloomy weather, once the first snowfall comes everyone will get into that Christmas spirit” something else that was evident when walking around this museum is just the history that you can feel. Looking around the house it makes you want to sleep there Christmas eve and wake up their Christmas morning.
