With the holidays drawing closer more charities are feeling the pressure to get their donations in. For the London public library they are in the home stretch for completing their demand for around 6000 books, with only a few hundred more to fill.
The library is currently struggling to get novels for ages 12-16, graphic novels are also in high demand.
A book for every child is an initiative that puts books in the hands of children and youth from newborns up to the age of 16. At the time of writing they aim to have over 6000 book donations and are off their target by 900 books.
“The hope is we can build a connection between a child and the characters of a story. Even as adults we love our relationships between ourselves and these characters. ” Lisa Maniskicos of the London Public Library said about the importance of books.
