Beauty and the Beast is playing at The Palace Theater until Sunday December 9th.
Modern adaptations of classic movies have been pumping out to movie theaters over the past few years suggesting there is still a huge drive for the stories we watched decades ago.
The original Beauty and the Beast animated film was released in 1991, winning 2 Oscars and 26 other awards. 26 years later the story was retold in live action fashion smashing the box office with a worldwide gross of over $1.2 billion.
There are many more adaptations of classics on the way in 2019:
- The Lion King
- Dumbo
- Aladdin
Dustin Didham, an actor in London Community Player’s adaptation of Linda Woolverian’s Beauty and the Beast, says that these modern adaptations are a great way for younger generations to be immersed into classic tales. With the crowd singing along during tonight’s play and a long lineup for photo’s with Belle an Beast after the show there is surely still a demand for the stories that seem to never seem to be out dated.
The last showing of Beauty and the Beast at the Palace Theater is tonight at 2pm.
