The Ivey Social Venture Case Competition combines students to business in London to help create a solution to global warming. Teams of students got together to create and propose a business idea that would help lower the amount of carbon emissions that Canadians produce.
The competition started off with a panel where the teams would present their idea to a group of judges. The judges were from various businesses such as The Atmospheric Fund, Mastercard Advisors and London Environmental Network.
Politics, philosophy and economics student, Vishal Vijay’s team focused on lowering the amount of electricity that Canadians used.
“Our company focused on finding a way to reduce the amount of electricity used and electricity wastage for high rise buildings in Toronto.”
Vijay believes that the goal of the competition is a good initiative for students and for businesses.
I think that this is a really noble goal, especially when we see the intersection between the social enterprise and for-profit fields, coming together to try to find a sustainable solution.”
Run by Ivey students, the competition is in it’s first year.
