The annual USC charity ball is a night of glamour and glitz. Western’s largest gala gives students the perfect excuse to dress to impress while supporting a noble cause. This year the charity of choice was the Rural women’s resource centre.
“We get a lot of recipients, like charity recipient applications, and when we were looking through them, this one really stuck out to us,” said USC charity ball organizer, Janice Noro.
“It just seems like such a worthy cause to help women in domestic violence situations. Really trying to empower women.” Noro added
Last year the USC raised $4800 for the make a wish foundation. This year their goal is to raise just as much if not more than the previous year.
“We are so thrilled to have Western’s support and very grateful that they choose us this year. The funds will be supporting our transition program.” Said Cara Campbell, the women’s rural resource centre communications manager.
“What our transition program does is, an advocacy position where we help women who are transitioning from a place of crisis to trying to help them rebuild their lives,” said Campbell.
The program provides services to help women find safe affordable housing as well as other tools to help get their life back on track.
USC is to announce how much they raised within the week.
