The blast of cold weather over the last week had caused parking metres to freeze, including the lots at Fanshawe College.
Many would think that parking is free since students are unable to pay, but this was not the case. Fanshawe parking had posted on every parking meter that tickets would be handed out if users didn’t find a way to pay. The note then directed students to find another metre in order to pay for parking. It was later found out that there was only one lot that had working metres.
These circumstances had caused a lose-lose situation
• Take the chance of walking and get frost bite
• Park in the minimal available spots and chance not getting a ticket
• Wait in the long line to pay, find parking again and risk being late
While walking around the Fanshawe campus, Lauren Thompson had voiced that “it’s really annoying but so far I haven’t gotten a ticket so I’m just gonna keep parking here until I do.”
Fanshawe parking had turned down the opportunity to comment on the issue.
Luckily next week has spring vibes, melting our current problems away.
