Some fast fashion can be trusted, brands like H&M and Forever 21 are pretty genuine. You know what you’re in store for stylish pieces with low build quality but at least they look nice.
However located a little further in the abyss of the internet you can find sites like Rosegal.com or Wish.com. They, however do not manufacture their own products.
Sites like these act as the middle man for manufacturers mostly in China looking to connect with western markets. This alleviates them of virtually all accountability.
The sites advertise on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The images of the clothes appear very chic and even more surprisingly cheap.
If you go to the sites and check out the product reviews something doesn’t seem quite right, they are all very positive, very similar and there are hundreds of them.
Most likely they are purchasing fake reviews as when you get the products it hard to imagine anyone having anything positive to say about them.
This has spawned a Reddit community that compares the expectations vs reality of these sites. I’ve included some of the best examples in the gallery below.

While these may look bad some people have reported not ever getting there orders.
The Canadian Consumer Protection agency issued a warning against sites like these, they suggest consumers not buy from third-party services that have no operations in Canada as they are tough to enforce accountability upon.
While researching this story I’ve found a few instances of people being satisfied but they are few and far between. To see for myself I placed an order and will be doing an unboxing to share here.
Unfortunately, something I should have realized while doing this story that the shipping is unreliable my package was supposed to arrive last Wednesday, alas it is now Monday of the following week and still no package.
Stay tuned.
