It was a night the student choir at John P Roberts school won’t forget for a while.
Students ranging from grades 4-8 were all at the London Music Hall for last night Donovan Woods concert. They were not just in attendance though- they got a chance to come up on stage and duet his hit song Next Year. Jane Kennedy is the choir director for the students and a teacher at John P Roberts and she says that this was a really cool experience for the kids,

“We stayed after in Rum Runners and i had to be like ‘hey you know the concert is still going on you need to be quiet’ but they were so pumped up they love doing this kinda stuff.”
This wasn’t the first time this choir got to sing with a high profile singer. Kennedy speaks about two other times the choir has performed,
“The first one was obviously really exciting because it was Jann Arden at Budweiser Gardens and it was their first time singing together and there was an audience of three thousand people.”
The song Next Year talks about not leaving things to the last minute because life moves fast. Kennedy says she chose it due to how accessible it is,
“When you’re choosing songs for choirs, especially young choirs, the lyrics are really important. You want them to have substance and be appropriate obviously. Donovan has amazing lyrics especially with Next Year.”
Kennedy spoke highly of how open and excited Woods was for this performance, saying he was very encouraging and just generally excited to put this on. Woods is nominated for a Juno Award this year for Songwriter of the Year.
