Why is streetwear so expensive ?
There are alot of streetwear brands out there most notably supreme,off white and gucci. Alot of people ask why are they so expensive like a regular supreme hoodie with the word supreme stitched on the front is almost 2000 dollars. There really is no specific reason as to why its so expensive its alot of things
- Social media influence
- Resale value
- Popularity of the items
- Simplicity in the design
A Lot of supremes success is its brand imaging. What supreme has is a lot of rappers and influential people rocking their gear and that then puts it in the consumers mind. Hey if i want to be drake or if i want to be travis scott i can all i have to do is get some supreme. A Lot of it has to do with the culture we are in now as well. People look up to instagram models and social media figures so much and if that’s what they are wearing they want to wear it too.
Emmanuel photographer for livestock city explains why he wouldn’t buy supreme and where they make their money “ i mean even if i was a millionaire i don’t think i would buy it it’s just too overpriced. The concept is really cool and the brand looks nice just not for me though”
It’s not like supreme overpriced these things on purpose in the retail stores there items are regularly priced. Where the catch is they only sell limited quantity of items so its really a issue of supply and demand.
