Fanshawe athletics wrap up another successful season with new records being set as well. The Falcons obliterated their record of 20 provincial and national medals set last year, by tallying an incredible 28 medals total this year, setting the current record.
Fanshawe College won 6 medals on the CCAA national stage. Only Humber College collected more with 8. The growth for Fanshawe comes as no surprise as there has been immense focus and development put into athletics over the years. Alex Jakma and Domic Szyska of Fanshawe’s Men’s Varsity Soccer Team thinks athlete’s at the school are treated extremely well and the positive and proffesional environment at the school is an added bonus.
With all new upgrades to facilities and the backing from other athletes, coaches and teachers, Jakma thinks it’s much easier for athletes to succeed in this environment. The environment that is set up around the athletes here at the school also allows them to thrive. With them having to balance school, sports, and personal life the onus is on the athlete to put in the extra effort.
