Everyone faces challenges throughout their lives, but for London-man Scott Moss, he pushed through his challenges and created something he’s incredibly proud of.
London born and raised, with his two kids, and his wife of 10 years, Moss faces onset dementia, and a movement disorder that is shutting down his body. He calls himself “differently-abled”, opposed to disabled, which is a phrase he often uses.
“We all have different abilities than others. If I’m disabled, that means I can’t do things. But I wanted to leave a positive legacy.”
And although Moss is dealing with these daily struggles, he knew that he wanted to become a writer. His novel, “I’m Just Sayin’“, was self-published. The book holds a range of different things, from poems, to short stories, to rants and even pictures. It’s a book that he wanted to make sure that everyone could enjoy.
Scott didn’t want to put off publishing his book any longer. He wanted to make an example to his children that even though someone faces difficult challenges, that you should always push forward with your dreams, no matter what they are.
“It’s a chance to not only give my family more stability once I get going, but it’s a chance to also inspire people. If I can get this published, and follow my dreams, and make it happen, then people should follow their dreams and make it a reality.”
Moss explained that he wishes that everyone would take a leap of faith and try to pursue something that you’re passionate about. He said that if he would’ve kept saying “tomorrow”, that he would have never gotten his book published. He gives his advice from experience, to whoever may need a small push into starting something they love.
“Don’t fear the challenge. For people that have an idea, whether it’s writing, artwork, whatever it is, just find the contacts, do the research, and don’t be afraid. The worst they can say is no.”
Scott Moss’ novel can be found on Amazon or the Friesen Press.
