Left Lane (Jordan Lindo) is a popular London based hip hop artist. The rapper is known for creating songs based on the city and his experiences in it,
“I speak about London because I’m from London, whether I was born here or not this is what created Left Lane the person I am now.”
The rapper, who was born in Toronto, moved to London at 14 when he first started music.
Some of his most popular London based songs are “I’m from London” and “Richmond row flows.” The artist is also currently in the process of continuing his London to London series. His most recent ep a cool grey area is the first part of the series. Left lane shares that this project is his way of relating London to the rest of the world through song,
“I came up with the idea about a year and a half ago… all I could think about is how do I relate London to the rest of the world without it having to go to the states or being from the Toronto population of music. So, I just thought about London England and the similarities… I really wanted to capture the London England and London Ontario vibe. It’s like based on what’s going on in London Ontario and then there’s the dark side of the grime music because if you know London England the grime music is deep and very popular over there.”
Left lane is also a former Fanshawe college student and works alongside Peter Graham a current Fanshawe student. Graham, known by his stage name soapy, is in the music industry arts program and when he’s not in class he’s often creating music with the rapper. The two have dropped over 100 songs together in their partnership which has lasted a little over a year.
“It’s like working with your best friend, we connect on a level where it’s easy. We can have our argument about what we think is right or not but we always prevail” Left Lane shared about what it’s like working with Graham. “It’s a dream come true, having the pieces to a puzzle is so important and Soapy is a big piece of my puzzle”
The artist has received praise from many people including ed holder who posted a video on the artists saying Left Lane makes London proud.
Left lane who shared that he found out about the video when his coworkers were talking about it at work said,
“he actually believes in you and like when he speaks you believe him, honestly like I said in my post if the mayor doesn’t believe in you who will… He’s done so much for me and I’m more then appreciative of his attitude towards local artists because it’s very hard to find the support for local artists. He’s gone above and beyond just to mention my name, and to me that’s all I ever needed.”
The London-based rapper has had a very busy year opening Juno fest, headlining at market fest and releasing his ep. The stage name was created as the left lane is the fast lane and that’s how the rapper likes to work. Often releasing videos shot within a day. Although left lane has had such a busy year he still isn’t sure what the future holds,
“I want to get somewhere but I don’t need to be the most famous person in the world, my music will get out there and touch who it need to touch when the time is right… what’s next is to keep working, I don’t really have a plan for where I’m going to be.
Although Left Lane doesn’t know where the future will take him he did share that he wants to start a Christmas foundation for families who can’t afford presents over the holidays.
