With Remembrance Day just a week away London is set to host a variety of events commemorating the sacrifices of veterans.
The Royal Canadian Legion will host London’s Remembrance service in Victoria park at the cenotaph from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Poppies distributed by the Royal Canadian Legion have already began circulating throughout London.
“You do not have to buy a poppy; we distribute poppies if you would like to donate it is greatly appreciated.” Said Brian Harris, Vice president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario command and provincial poppy chair.
The Royal Canadian regiment museum will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM on November 11th to observe the service organized by the fourth battalion of the Royal Canadian regiment. In addition they will have veterans there to share their stories and talk about t

This year marks the 100th Remembrance Day also known as Armistice Day. Although veterans were commemorated earlier, Remembrance Day was originally held exactly one year after the conclusion of World War 1.
“I think our biggest fear is that we be forgotten.” Said World War 2 veteran Harry Favell.
The purpose of November 11th is to not let the story of Harry and so many others be forgotten. Being active by participating and attending ceremonies, as well as wearing a poppy are just a couple ways we can help preserve the importance of Remembrance Day.
