The Upper Thames River Conservation and Authority (UTRCA) is reminding watershed residents that water levels near streams and rivers will remain very high for the next several days, due to the heavy rain the fell between Friday evening and early Sunday morning.

Teresa Hollingsworth is the Manager of Community and Corporate Services for the UTRCA. “In the northern part of the watershed we received around 80 mm of rain, and in London and Woodstock approximately 65 mm of rain.”
This has caused safety concerns. “Flooding is dangerous, don’t try and drive through standing water and be vigilant with children and pets,” says Hollingsworth.
It will take some time for levels to get back to reasonable. “We’ll see things coming down by the end of the week, many parks in London are quite full, and it will take a while for them to get back to normal,” says Hollingsworth.
She adds that Streambanks are extremely slippery and flood reservoirs are being used to minimize flood impacts.
