Last weekend, the city of London received record breaking rainfall, with over 75 millimetres of rain in just two days. This caused many floods in peoples homes. For Amber Smith and Lubnow Restorations, that means more work for them.
Amber Smith is a restoration technician at Lubnow, where she has seen her fair share of floods over the years. After this weekend, Smith says she can’t even put a number on how many calls they received.
The forecast is calling for heavy rain fall this weekend and flooding and/or power outages may occur. Heavy rain may also cause sewers to back up. Make sure you are prepared. Visit https://t.co/C00QHmm32l for some great tips on how to be flood ready.

“Right now I still can’t put a number on it because the calls are still coming in” says Smith.
“There are a few steps that need to be taken before the company can go in and start any work, and sometimes they can take a little longer than a day, or an hour, so unfortunately right now, I can’t really give you a number.”
Though it was mostly people’s basements that flooded, there were a couple of businesses in the city that received some flooding as well.
So just what is some of the work that Smith and Lubnow have been doing this past week?
“The first step is to just stabilize the basement or whatever area has been flooded so that there’s no more further damage” says Smith.
“That’s basically all we did this week with the abundance that we did get in, and currently now in the week. We’re just stabilizing making sure there’s nothing else that’s going to happen.”
Although there have been numerous calls this week, Smith says the extent of the work they have been doing isn’t too intense as some may think.
“Right now we’re just drying nothing crazy has happened” says Smith.
“We’ve just been trying to get the moisture and the water out of the drywall and everything into peoples homes. After that, that’s when the discussion can happen on what the rebuild will be and what we will do, depending on what we had to do to dry out the place.”
Smith is hopeful that this week will be better, as now they wait to see what kind of damage that these floods caused.
