The London Knights hosted Sarnia Sting on Friday night at Budweiser Gardens. It was a well-played game for London as they won the game 4-1 and extended their winning streak to 5 games. They play 2 more games this weekend, Saturday night they visit the Owen Sound Attack, than on Sunday they will return home to host the Oshawa Generals.
It was a good night for Knights players as Liam Foudy opened the scoring for the team and Connor McMichael had 3 points for the game. He recorded 2 goals and 1 assist. The 3-point night was huge for Connor as he hit a major milestone reaching 100 points on the season. McMichael now has 45 goals and 55 assists for the Knights this season. Rookie goaltender Brett Brochu was able to get another win on the season. He now has 31 wins and only 6 losses this year.
After the game XFM reporter Christian Mahu caught up with Connor to ask how he feels about being the first Knight to reach 100 points on the season since Mitch Marner and Mathew Tkachuk.
Connor told XFM news, “It’s huge, we got a really good team this year so it’s pretty easy to point up points especially when we have a good powerplay, Dale trusts me in all situations so I play a lot so it wasn’t too hard to get.”
McMichael is in good company as only 5 players have hit the 100 point mark this season in the OHL.
London is in 1st place in the OHL’s western conference with only 8 games remaining on the season. They are hoping they can stay a top of the conference heading into playoffs which would give them home ice advantage throughout. XFM asked Connor how much it means to try and win every game. He said, “There a really good team so you just got to go out every night and try and get the 2 points and separate yourself in the standings as much as possible.”
The London Knights could extend their win streak to 7 games by the end of the weekend as they visit the Owen Sound Attack tonight and then return home Sunday to host the Oshawa Generals at Budweiser Gardens.
