Ontario is reporting 102 new cases of COVID-19 and nine new deaths related to the virus today. That’s the lowest single day increase of cases since March 25.
The total number of cases now stands at 37,052, which includes 2,732 deaths and 32,920 cases marked as resolved.
On Twitter, Health Minister Christine Elliot said that 31 of Ontario’s 34 public health units are reporting 5 or fewer cases, with 19 reporting no new cases at all.
“With 135 more resolved, there are 33 fewer active cases in Ontario as we continue to track a persistent decline in the number of active cases in the province,” she said.
Today’s report shows that the majority of new cases are coming from the Greater Toronto Area, with Toronto seeing 49 new cases, Peel Region with 14 and York Region with five more cases.
As cases continue to show a downward trend, most of the province will move on to Stage 3 of re-opening on Friday.
