Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis. A song that not all will recognize, but Knights fans have missed since March of 2020. The Knights score, fans on their feet, arms waving up and down. Finally, London Knights hockey is back.
With COVID-19 numbers at a low locally, restaurants are re-opening and sporting events are kicking off. Downtown London is showing signs of life again and it will only get more lively as Budweiser Gardens opens to fans.
The London Knights home opener is scheduled for Friday, October 8. The Budweiser Gardens will host a capacity of 1,000 fans, but what other changes will there be for fans?
Director of Marketing and Game Day, Alex Brown, says while you will be required to show ID and vaccination receipts, the atmosphere will be just as good as fans remember.
“It’s probably as exciting as it’s ever been…” Brown says. “You’ve seen it in a lot of markets in the [United States] recently, the fan excitement is just next level. Fans are itching to get back.” From dancing to the goal song to the “Go Knights Go” chants, the London fandom is expected to be at an all-time high after a year’s absence.
With vaccination passports and Q-R codes to match on the way, more and more fans will be able to make their way inside. It’s only a matter of time until the 9,000+ will roar in the stands once again.
