This week on “Fit to Eat” we reprise a visit from a couple of years back. Join us as we go both backwards and forwards in time. We meet a couple of pioneers who have traded the streets of Vancouver (and St. John’s) for the homemade and self-provisioned comforts of a homestead. But by taking this choice, which some see as going “backwards,” they have actually been going forwards in time – to a future when we take some personal responsibility again for feeding ourselves – and find immense joy and satisfaction in doing so.
We head to Mobile, NL, for a visit with Lisa and Steve McBride, on a lovely sunny (but breezy) day. You may know them as the facilitators behind the very popular Facebook group “Backyard Farming & Homesteading NL.” Since the time I talked with them, the group has added another 20 thousand members! (And likely another 20 thousand administrative dilemmas…).
Join us for a chat about food that satisfies, taking responsibility, celebrating resilience, the joys of homesteading, and more. It could just change your life.
