Spider-Man: No Way Home is the newest film from Sony and Disney, and they hit it out of the park. The film picks up after the previous movie’s events when the world found out Peter Parker was Spider-Man. The film follows his struggles to deal with this occurrence as he desperately tries to regain his everyday life. The film sees the return of classic Spider-Man villains like Doc Ock, Lizard, Sandman, Green Goblin, and Electro. All the previous actors who played these roles are back. Doctor Strange also stars as someone who assists Spider-Man in the film.
There is not much you can say about this film without spoiling it. Just know that this is the best Spider-Man film to date. It will be tough to beat this blockbuster film that delivers every way. You have every emotion possible during this roller coaster of a movie, from complete sadness to a level of excitement I have not experienced since Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man: No Way Home is top tier for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans wondering how it stacks up compared to other MCU films.
The acting in this movie was on a completely different level compared to previous Spider-Man films. The way the actors convey their roles in believable and relatable ways makes you emotionally attached to each character. This film also had some breathtaking scenes of swinging and fighting that are sure to be future posters. Tom Holland has his best performance yet in a movie that finally brings humanity to Spider-Man. A significant criticism of previous Tom Holland Spider-Man films is that they don’t seem to put him in believable peril. He always has someone to back him up. Also, these past films were centered around Iron Man a lot, but this film was different. The relationship between Tom Holland and Zendaya’s characters was also superb. It felt natural, relatable, and it made you feel for them. They did everything necessary to make you care about their relationship. Alfred Molina and Willem Dafoe reprising their villain roles were other highlights of the film. Both actors do a tremendous job bringing their legendary characters to life again.
The CGI in this film was also some of the best of the year, and for the first time in forever, it truly feels worth it to see the 3D version. The web-swinging action reaches out to you and makes you feel like you’re right there in the film. Another point of the film is that it quickens the pacing right away and never slows down. The film is an absolute adventure from the second it begins to when it ends. Every scene feels like it had importance, and not one moment felt out of place.
Overall, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the film of the year. It excels in all areas and takes you on an emotional roller coaster. Even those who criticize the MCU for being a ‘circus’ will enjoy what is not only one of the best MCU films, not only the best Spider-Man film but one of the most outstanding cinematic achievements in years. This film was perfect from beginning to end, and I recommend it to anyone.
