The London Lightning closed out their regular season with a 125-115 victory against the Sudbury Five extending their winning streak to five games. It was a close game with 8 lead changes, and the largest lead of the night was only 12 points. It was a chippy game with four technical being handed out to the Five, and 3 to the Lightning.
The Lightning were led by Amir Williams who finished with 40 points and 18 rebounds. Jordan Burns was also a key contributor finishing with 32 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. 15 of Burns’ 32 points were scored in the 4th quarter.
The Sudbury Five were led by Dexter Williams Jr. and Braylon Rayson who finished with 36 and 32 points respectively.
The Lightning were once again dominant in the paint outscoring the Five 60-32 and winning the rebound battle 59-45.
The Lightning finish the season as the National Basketball League of Canada’s top team with a record of 20-4. The Lightning’s playoff journey and best of five series gets underway this Sunday, May. 15th at Budweiser Gardens against the Windsor Express tipoff is at 2 p.m.
