What started as a dream four years ago has turned into reality for Fanshawe Esports Director Tyler Heatherington and his team with the opening of The FUEL Station.
“Its awesome that its finally here a lot of work and time had gone into this project and I’m excited to see the students and teams finally use the room” said Heatherington.
Students lined up in the dozens to see the unveiling of the room that was supported with cases of energy drinks and cookies for free, a true gamer move.
“I have been waiting since august. It crazy to have something like this on campus where I can go and play in my free time with friends and just have fun.” multiple students said while expressing joy for the room.
When Heatherington took over the role of Esports director in November 2021 he had asperations to put Fanshawe on the map as a premier destination for colligate Esports players and production. The room was a bold idea Heatherington had four years ago but when he signed on as the full time Esports director is was a matter of convincing the school about why this room will not only boost the ability of Fanshawe’s Esports teams but will give the students an area to meet new people in the gaming community and have a place to relax and plat their favorite games.
The room contains 12 gaming PCs, four Xbox’s and four Nintendo Switches for public use. The room is open between 10am and 10pm everyday baring any use of the room for the varsity teams.
