London transit is getting a big financial boost as the city announced a 6.5 million dollar grant from the Ontario government towards transit upgrades.
The money is planned to be allocated towards bus upgrades and many areas as well as potential route expansions in the city. The city has already started on one of its major projects with the rapid transit lanes being implemented already throughout London.
“There a lots of negatives and positives I hope to see fixed and implemented with the money” Nadeem Babar said who’s a frequent transit user.
Babar says one main issue he faces is that his card is scanned inconstantly making for some scenarios where he may be denied access to the bus and many other face the same issues while holding a monthly bus pass.
Barber also hopes to see upgrades with routes as the area he lives is a populus part of London that does not have a main bus route and takes upwards of 20 minutes to reach his stop.
He mentions that LTC could introduce a Presto system similar to the GO and TTC transit systems Toronto offers to its major transit lines which is similar to a fast pass where you load money onto a card and tap and go. Presto is a more consistant and easier method that a seen a lot of success in the Greater Toronto Area.
