“Hold up. Wait a minute. We need to restart”.
Draw 1 at the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier began with three of four matches beginning properly, while one match had to restart due to an error made by both teams.
New Brunswick and Wild Card 3 had just started their match when the teams noticed that a mistake had been made; the wrong team threw first.
In Curling, teams go back and forth throwing rocks and one team throws the last stone, or has “The Hammer” in that particular End.
However, both teams made a mistake when Team Wild Card 3–who was supposed to have “Hammer”– threw the first stone of the match and would have given “Hammer” to Team New Brunswick.
Team New Brunswick first noticed the mistake and brought it to the attention of the Umpires and after discussion with Team Wild Card 3, the End restarted.
Team Wild Card 3 came way with the victory.
