A London woman has died after a multi-vehicle crash just northwest of Saint Thomas on Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to a collision on Talbot Line east of wellington just after 6:30 p.m. On arrival, there was a head on collision with 2 vehicles along with a third collided just after. A 46-year-old woman was then taken to hospital but died shortly after.
Elgin county OPP says the identity of the victim will not be released out of respect to the victim’s family.
A 32-year-old St. Thomas resident as well as a 24-year-old from Straffordville were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Elgin County OPP Constable Brett Phair says that while the exact cause of the crash is still unknown, “traffic, weather and road conditions are always a factor that’s considered” in their investigations.
Talbot line in the area of Wellington Road and Centennial Avenue is closed. The Highway 3 On-Ramp accessed from First Avenue is also closed and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
