The City of London has now begun instituting their winter street parking restrictions.
“So effective Nov. 1 to Apr. 30, the City of London has instituted the overnight parking restrictions in effect city wide. This is from 3 am to 5 am, 7 days a week,” says Sean Steenbergen, Manager of Compliance and Parking Services with the City of London.
He goes on to talk about just why the city needs to keep up with these practices year to year.
“It’s important for the enforcement of the regulations to keep our streets clear, not only for our road maintenance crew, but for overall vehicular traffic.”
Steenbergen continues to talk about how, even with the restrictions, there are some ways that Londoners with difficult parking situations can find ways to manage during the winter months.
“The streets that have prohibited parking signs indicating 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. aren’t able to apply for the parking pass, however, all other city streets that don’t have those signs, the city issues 15 free overnight parking passes.”
He continues to go into more details on what exactly the pass entails, with it working in two particular instances. .
“The overnight parking pass exempts people from the overnight parking restriction as well as the 18 hour on-street parking limit in specific areas within the city.”
The passes can be obtained online at parking.london.ca or by phone at 519-661-4537.
They can be picked up between Monday and Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
