Londoners are now able to vote on new neighbourhood projects for their communities this week during the Neighbourhood Decision Making vote.
The vote is available for anyone who lives in the city including everyone from international students to domestic residents.
“Neighbourhood Decision Making is a program of the city of London where Londoners can decide where $250-thousand of the municipal budget is spent each year,” says Jennifer Martino, Manager of Neighbourhood Development and Support with the city of London.
“Londoners submit ideas of how to make their neighbourhoods better than they already are and then Londoners also vote on the idea they like the most and then the winning ideas come to life with the support of city staff.”
She adds that over a thousand votes have already been received online, saying that Londoners can vote all week for the projects.

“Last year there was a disc golf course improvement and that’s a project that the city has been working on over the course of the year in St. Julien Park.”
She adds that the focus on neighbourhood involvement is important and has played a key factor in how the votes have played out in the past.
“There was a playground, Lambeth Optimist Park, where a little 9-year old girl felt that the playground equipment was better suited to younger children and wanted to see something for kids her age,” says Martino.
“She put in an idea and went to talk to her neighbours about voting for a new piece of [playground equipment. That has just been installed.”
People who want to contribute can go online to getinvolved.london.ca or visit Neighbourhood Resource Centres and Community Centres across the city.
Voting closes this Saturday November 18, with the full results being delivered at the beginning of December.
