Archie Verspeeten was a known businessman for his trucking company Verspeeten Cartage based in Ingersoll Ontario.
Archie made a massive donation of 20 million dollars to the London Health Sciences Foundation’s cancer program prior to his death on Saturday at the age of 92.
Verspeeten had lost many family members to cancer including his wife Irene and two of his sons.
This donation was accepted with extreme gratitude by the LHSF.
“We had a full house at the hospital and the family received a standing ovation, it was a poignant moment” says John H MacFarlane the President and CEO of the LHSF.
“He really wanted to make a difference, he made it clear that he wanted to give this gift and get people help now”. Macfarlane added.
Verspeeten’s massive donation will help cancer research tremendously and provide patients with the equipment and care they need to best fight the illness.
