A 44-year-old London man is facing charges relating to drugs and firearms.
On Sunday afternoon, Jeremy Ronald Pickering was getting into a taxi in downtown London when a bystander claimed to have seen a handgun tucked into his waistband. Pickering was later located and arrested by police.
Police say he was in possession of:
- Four replica handguns
- A sawed-off shotgun
- A taser
- Suspected methamphetamine, value $9,729
- Suspected Fentanyl, value $2,225
- Suspected Morphine pills, value $850
- Suspected Hydromorphone pills, value $450
- Suspected Dilaudid pills, value $374
- A digital scale
- Approximately $1600 in cash
Dilaudid, a brand of hydromorphone pills provided as part of the Safer Opioid Supply Program, has been in the news recently. London Police held a media conference to tell the public how these pills are being diverted to the streets, being sold for cash or traded for fentanyl. So far, in 2024, police have seized over 11,000 Dilaudid pills.
Pickering is expected to appear in court today, and is facing the following charges:
- Three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or prohibited device
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Breach of probation
