Fanshawe College delivered the following message to its members of the College community.
“Out of concern for the safety and wellbeing of our faculty, staff and students, please note that all campuses of Fanshawe College are closing effective immediately. Please direct any work-related questions to your team leader. Stay safe.”
The message was delivered on social media around 7:05, about 10 mins. after announcing the college was open. This created confusion in some cases for students with an 8 a.m. class arriving to campus. Faculty have been advised to move their classes online for today if it’s possible.
Today is the final scheduled day for classes in Fanshawe’s Academic calendar, and courses that require timetabling for final exams have those scheduled next week.
Meanwhile, Western University is closed for a second day and classes have been cancelled or moved online.
Both Fanshawe and Western are monitoring the weather and communicating updates from their social media channels.
The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) and London District Catholic School Board have closed all schools for the second day and cancelled all classes, busses, and extracurricular activities.
