International women’s day is Saturday March 8th, it’s a day recognized annually all around the world.
The day is to mark all the contributions women have made to society and their roles in everyday life as sisters, daughters and mothers.
International Women’s Day first took place on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland, since it has been observed in many other countries. It was sprung into action because of labour movements in North America and Europe and reflected a growing call for women’s equal participation in society.
This year in London, many local businesses are recognizing and celebrating the day.
