London Free Press is reporting that Magic mushroom users say the drugs free your mind, but a judge says they aren’t constitutionally protected as a tool of thought.
Ontario Court Judge George Orsini said psilocybin “has not yet been largely known from a scientific perspective for long-term effects.”
Orsini also said there was “no basis” for finding a law that “invades, manipulates or punishes thoughts, whether intentional or effective, or forces them to think in a certain way.”
London police has charged Samer Akila in June 2023 after searching the Fun Guyz mushroom pharmacy and seizing psilocybin.
Magic Mushroom is one of several pharmacies that have opened across London.
Akila’s case was adjourned to October 17 to set a date for sentencing.
