Around 100 protesters gathered in front of the RBC Place building in downtown London against the ‘Best Defence Conference’.
According to the ‘Best Defence Conference’ website, the conference focuses on defense and public safety, Canadian aerospace and enhancing supply chains. The conference would bring together military companies and the Canadian Armed Forces.
The protesters blocked the entranceways to the building and said that they’re against the Canadian Government supplying weapons used by countries.

The Police were also blocking main roads around the building such as York Street, King Street and Waterloo Street. Police said that there was one arrest made regarding property damage and there were around 25 police vehicles on scene
Spokesperson for the protest Angelune des Lauriers says “we want a complete two way arms embargo with Israel and we also want the war machine to stop.”
The police were also preventing press and media from entering the main entrance on York Street
The sponsors of the event were General Dynamics, Nortac Defence and Elbit Systems
In response to why the protesters are out there, Angelune says “there’s a lot of buying and selling of weaponry to commit war crimes in Palestine”
The conference continues Wednesday.
