Starting November 15, London residents and visitors will need to follow new overnight parking rules on city streets. Between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., cars can only be parked if they have a valid overnight parking pass.
Each vehicle gets 15 free passes for the season, and if more are needed, additional passes can be purchased for $5 each online through the Honk Mobile app. Passes can also be obtained by phone from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday to Friday.
“This program is designed to give residents flexibility while keeping our streets safe and clear during the winter months,” said Sean Steenbergen, Manager of Parking Services and Compliance.
Not all vehicles are eligible. Commercial trucks, trailers, recreational vehicles, and unroadworthy vehicles cannot use the program. Passes are also not valid during snow events, and residents will be notified by email when vehicles need to be moved for snow removal.
Parking enforcement officers will monitor compliance, and vehicles parked without a valid pass could receive a $50 fine. “We encourage residents to plan ahead and move their cars when necessary so that snow removal and road maintenance can be done efficiently,” Steenbergen added.
