East Londoners will be without access to some recreational activities today. The East Lions Community Centre is temporarily closed. All programs and services held at the centre are currently cancelled.
A Friday night hydro outage took out the building’s transformer. The City of London states that its teams are still working on the issue, which is why the closure and cancellations are in effect. London Hydro is also helping to restore the building’s functions.
The space is situated directly on the similarly named East Lions Park. Those who were registered for activities today will receive an email with information about refunds and class extensions.
The East Lions Community Centre features two pools, a gymnasium, a community kitchen, and other spaces for various programs to run. Lessons in sports and swimming are held at the location. Outdoor facilities in the neighbouring park are still open for anyone to use.
Details about when the community centre will reopen are to be released at a later time. Keep your eyes on the 1069theX.com website and tune into the radio for more information from our reporters tomorrow.
