A bus driver is dead and four passengers were taken to hospital after a school bus carrying over 40 passengers crashed Sunday morning outside of London, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police say that on Sunday, Nov. 2, they were called to the scene at around 9:40 a.m., along with other first responders, to Highway 401 westbound, west of Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Police say the scene involved a school bus that was carrying 42 passengers, including secondary school-aged students, that left the roadway, resulting in a single-vehicle crash.
Four passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The bus driver, a 52-year-old man from Waterloo region, was pronounced dead at the scene.
OPP say that with the assistance of London police, a temporary emergency operations centre was set up at the East Lions Community Centre to reunite passengers with their families.
The highway has since reopened.
