The Boys and Girls club of London are keeping kids warm with their annual “Koats for Kids” service.
Koats for Kids is a yearly coat initiative that gives away winter accessories for free from infants to teens up to eighteen. Community donations make it possible to give away coats as well as other accessories like boots, hats, and gloves.
“We just want children to be ready, especially for school. As you know, even when it’s very cold and snowy out there, the kids will go out to recess and they need to have the proper clothing so they can enjoy their time outdoors.” Says Susanna Martinez, Manager of Fun Development and Communications at the Boys and
Girls Club London.
Martinez highlights how the initiative is a huge community and volunteer effort. With over 40 drop-off points, collection takes a joint commitment to making the community better. Over 50 volunteers will be helping out on distribution day, “there’s a lot of staff who volunteer on that day. So it’s just great to see how community can come together for a great cause,” says Martinez.
Coat distribution will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, starting at 9 a.m. donations can still be made but must be delivered to the Boys and Girls club on Horton Street.
