The minority Liberal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney has survived its third confidence vote, passing their federal budget and avoiding a winter election.
The main motion for the budget carried with 170 for and 168 against the budget in the House of Commons Nov. 17.
Leading up to the vote, the Conservative party and Bloc made it clear that they would not support the budget
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May voted in favour of the budget, saying she voted yes “for the country, for the planet and for hope in the future.”
The budget survived two confidence votes, the first on an amendment by the Bloc Quebecois, then sub-amended by the Conservatives.
