Seven months after the London Police Service (LPS) began cracking down on open air substance use in public, they are again, asking for feedback from Londoners in Downtown, Midtown, and Old East Village areas.
In a statement released Thursday, November 13th, 2025, LPS Chief Thai Truong said they are looking into what they can improve on with the strategy. “As we reach the seven-month mark, this follow-up survey is an important opportunity to learn from our community,” Truong continued “Your input will help us measure what’s working, identify barriers, and strengthen our approach moving forward.”
The approach, Truong says, is “rooted in compassion, collaboration, and engagement.” The police are working with public health, social services, and community partners to tackle the issue at hand.
Phase two of the Open Air Substance Use Strategy includes integrated services like health, housing, and social support- with police promising to balance accountability with compassion and to ground the program with an understanding of the complexities with substance use.
This is the second survey on the public drug use strategy, since the program began in April 2025.
Police say the survey is voluntary and all responses are anonymous.
